FYF Fest this year felt like Coachella in L.A. -- the stages and everything else have gotten huge -- although the vibe was even more music-centric and laid back. Though in the heart of L.A., it wasn't about being "seen" as much as seeing one's favorite bands, even in the VIP areas.

The no-frills feel was reflected in the fashion choices too. Yeah, there was a lot of "eastsider" facial hair, '80s touches like neon and acid wash, and those flower head garlands. Mostly though, people were dressed for comfort and stomping about. We were proud about the relative lack of self-conscious irony out there. Here are the top 10 fashion moments of the festival.

10. Boots

You know those wobbly women who cluelessly wear sky high heels to the concert and then get drunk and fall all over everyone? We didn't see those. Preferred footwear included sturdy and substantial stuff like Chucks, motorcycle boots and Dr. Martins (like these cuties from the Good Times Ice Cream truck). Also knee-socks were everywhere. Mark our words: docs and socks are "it" this fall.

9. Bandanarama

We didn't get the memo about the dirt and dust factor at FYF, but Saturday, it seemed many did. Bandanas were everywhere, and when they weren't covering faces, they were tied around necks or heads. Some got creative with their face coverings, like the guy above who made his a Black Flag homage.

8. Overalls

Overalls remain a favorite, even outside of the farm. We saw a lot of them this weekend, mostly vintage (80's and 90's). They'll surely be all over the malls next. Flowing dresses were a fave too. "Body-con" was pretty much a "non" all around.

7. Updos

Boys rocking Sumo-style hair buns make us chuckle, but girls with updos, especially brightly colored ones, were undeniably cute. That goes double for Princess Leia twofers.

6. Wild Card

There's always that one person rocking that one piece that is just so bad it's good. This year, that award goes to this ceramic face-embellished monstrosity, worn by our pal Lyndsey Parker (Yahoo's music editor!).

5. Unplugged

Cell service was super-spotty this weekend, which made for far fewer phones in the air blocking our view. Nice. What to with our phones instead? Decorate them at the FYF craft booths, which offered "bling" and sequins in homage to FYF's "Sex and the City" inspired stages names. Ok, that was kinda ironic.

4. Family Affairs

We always love seeing families at festivals, especially when the babies are wearing their protective ear phones! Even better, when the families coordinate. Micky Curtis (from Echo Park vintage store Lemon Frog Shop) and her daughter did it best.

3. Head Gear

Boho headwear was in effect, but Dodger hats were a close second. We only counted three spirit hoods the entire weekend. Hopefully, the fugly furries will be gone by the next fest.

2. Fanatics

Karen O.'s glam getup and the Melvins' Buzz Osbourne's wizard cloak aside, the artists on stage were for the most part casual, and their fans rep'd in kind. Band tees abounded, but we especially loved the DIY fan frocks, like the Breeders lovers above.

1. No Nudes Is Good News

Unlike EDM dance orgies such as Hard, EDC, and even Coachella, FYF saw no half-naked chicks in bootie-shorts, bikinis or pasties. It was hot enough for babes to bare, but tank tops and shorts sufficed. Leaving FYF on Sunday and catching the VMAs on TV at home afterward was really strange. Everyone's in a tizzy about Miley Cyrus' hyper-sexualized style, but FYF's free-flowing frock rocking this weekend showed it doesn't rep all of today's music -or fashion- fans.
