Saturday, November 1
Amason
Origami Vinyl

What happens when Pontus Winnberg of Swedish indie-pop band Miike Snow makes a side project with his Swedish indie-pop friends? You get Amason, a supergroup (or suppergruppen) comprised of some of the most talented musicians in the Scandinavian scene, featuring members of jazz-rock group Dungen, folk-pop act Little Majorette, and singer-songwriter Idiot Wind. The group scored a nomination for Best Newcomer of 2014 at the Swedish Grammys after their ephemeral tracks "Went to War" and "Margins" gained massive Internet attention, and are preparing to release their debut album, Sky City.

The Julie Ruin
USC Bovard Auditorium

Somewhere in between Bikini Kill and Le Tigre, feminist punk fixture Kathleen Hanna started Julie Ruin, a solo project that appeared in 1998 with a self-titled record. The project then reappeared in 2010 as The Julie Ruin, a full-on five piece band. Their 2013 debut album, Run Fast, features Hanna's signature snarly vocals, but with an occasional sprinkle of synth ("Ha Ha Ha"), jazzy-punk ("Just My Kind"), and all the lyrical provocation we've come to know The Punk Singer for.

Thursday, November 6
Spain
Amoeba Music

As the son of acclaimed jazz bass player, the late Charlie Haden, and brother to Petra, Tanya, and Rachel of folk group The Haden Triplets, Josh Haden has spent his life around music, and many different kinds, at that. A well-known American jazz musician and contributor to Blue Man Group album The Complex, Haden is also known to cross genres as frontman and bassist of indie-rock group Spain, whose debut album, 1995's The Blue Moods of Spain, gained the praise of critics, as well as Johnny Cash and alt-electronica group Soulsavers, who both covered the confessional track "Spiritual." Spain are performing ahead of their upcoming release, Sargent Place, out November 4.

Niia
Bardot Hollywood

Mentored by Wyclef Jean (and featured on his 2007 hit "Sweetest Girl") and partnering with producer Robin Hannibal (Kendrick Lamar, Little Dragon) for her debut album, Generation Blue, 26-year-old jazz singer Niia Bertino is poised to take over. Her ridiculously sexy track "Body," paired with a BDSM-themed music video (below) has earned praise from KCRW, with other singles getting notice from Entertainment Weekly, Maxim and The Guardian. Catch her now, before you have to fight to get a ticket to future sold-out performances.

Wednesday, November 12
DJ Thavius Beck
Amoeba Music

Whether he's performing at the legendary Low End Theory, or working in-studio with fellow Low End Theorists Nocando and Busdriver, Thavius Beck (alternative moniker, Adlib) sails smoothly through Los Angeles' experimental hip-hop and bass scenes — in fact, as an Ableton Certified Trainer, he's basically coaching it. Early this October he announced Amalgorhythm, his fifth studio album and latest work since 2012's moody, groovy The Most Beautiful Ugly.

Friday, November 14
SFV Acid
Origami Vinyl

Reseda-based house producer and visual artist (he's done illustrations for high-fashion brand Saint Laurent) Zane Reynolds has become one of the more fascinating characters in the Los Angeles DIY techno scene — and we don't use "character" lightly. The focus of a mini-documentary series titled New American Noise, shown at Sundance Film Festival last year, Reynolds reveals a peculiar sense of humor through song titles on his latest work, Amber's Stuff, which details the leftovers of a past relationship: "Pink iPhone," "Bejeweled iMac," "Cheddar Mercedes."
