If you attended any of the fantastic shows the Hollywood Bowl programmed this past summer, you probably noticed the very large crowds gathered at the gift shop afterwards practically getting in fisticuffs over the limited number of concert posters available. The reason? The Bowl commissioned some outstanding graphic and fine artists to create these visual souvenirs to appearances by Aretha Franklin, Liza Minelli, Grace Jones (it was a diva-ful schedule, for sure) et al.
Tonight at 7 at the Arclight movie theater in Hollywood, La-La Land Gallery and the LA Phil present the first-ever exhibit of 2009 Hollywood Bowl Poster Art, which will be hanging there until January 5, 2010. The opening, sponsored by PBR [!], is open to anyone who RSVPs.
Info on how to get in and more about the exhibit, after the jump.

The 2009 Hollywood Bowl Poster Artshow, curated by artist Kii Arens of La-La Land Gallery (who created posters for Ray LaMontagne and Liza Minnelli) and the LA Phil's Shannon Cornett, is the first-ever of its kind. To celebrate, the show will open with a special event on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at 7:00 PM, generously sponsored by Pabst Blue Ribbon and open to the public (RSVP is required to firstname.lastname@example.org). Special guest artists, Moonrats, featuring classically trained keyboardist Aska Matsumiya, singer/guitarist Nathan Thelen, bassist Pete Lyman and drummer Jason Echeverria are set to perform at the gallery opening.
On November 17, 2009, Arclight Hollywood unveils the first-ever exhibit of Hollywood Bowl posters, with works designed by an exceptional array of today's hottest artists, including Stanley Mouse, Camille Rose Garcia, Shag, Gary Taxali, Niagara and Chris Reccardi. All 13 posters created for the 2009 Hollywood Bowl summer season will be on display. Posters were created for such superstars as Liza Minnelli, Aretha Franklin, Death Cab for Cutie, Adele and Ray LaMontagne, each of whom performed at the iconic venue during the 2009 summer season. Each artist who created a poster for the 2009 Hollywood Bowl series will also feature an exclusive new work alongside the poster that he or she created. In addition, vintage posters from past seasons at the Hollywood Bowl and special printings of vintage programs will also be on display. In the spirit of the event, 87-year-old David Wiedman, the iconic artist best known for his work on Mr. Magoo, designed the poster for the exhibit itself.
Patrons will have the opportunity to purchase copies of select displayed posters in the 2009 Hollywood Bowl series, each with limited edition, numbered printings and signed by the artists who created them. Art lovers can also purchase the exclusive works on display from each participating artist.
