LinA In LA Party Picks: Our Post-Thanksgiving Workout Plan
Forget about cornbread. We've got the recipe for the kind of stuffing that won't leave you comatose after consumed, unless you want to be. Stuff your weekend with the following ingredients: '70s disco, '80s new wave, brand-new electro house, zombies, fashion fiends, hipsters, gays, straights, pan-sexuals (Amanda Lepore) and asexuals (Morrissey). Let the holiday revelry begin ...
Fri., Nov. 25
Miss Kitty's Annual White Trash Bash has always been a sleazy, greasy good time (see photo), and it took a decidedly darker turn last year with addition of a "Zombie Ball" theme. What this means is, the hoedown gets a little hell-ish, and maybe a little messier, too. Think blood and Budweiser splatter. Activities for this raunchy day after turkey-gorging include: "singin,' strippin' and live onstage sexing shenanigans featuring drag queens, horny boys & topless girls," a shooting target game, strip poker, an electro square dance-off, and (bloody) wet t-shirt contests. DJs spin dark, hard, sexy dance sounds. No twang, just ta-tas. At the Dragonfly, 6510 Santa Monica Blvd. www.misskittysparlour.com
Jive turkeys and disco ducks alike should flock to Hear Gallery's Tribute to Studio 54, Friday Night Fever. It's a disco-palooza with all '70s funk, rock and dance DJ sets by Kogarasumaru and Shane Love, plus retro visuals, video and projections and live acts including Rancheros, Salsa Chips, Pool Honeys, Nature's Son, Plague Vendor and Hidden Depths. Free Pop Rocks. At 5 Star Bar, 267 S. Main St. Downtown. More info. at http://www.facebook.com/theheargallery or http://theheargallery.com/

Morrissey mania hits L.A. this week! Despite the Moz's dark demeanor and the austere genius of his music, rest assured his fans will be anything but somber or restrained when it comes to celebrating their rock god's emergence on L.A. stages (at The Music Box and The Shrine). Moz actually lives here, so it's not a second coming or anything, but it might feel like it. Especially at the big Morrissey After Party in Chinatown, thrown by Club Underground and Transistor. The club's DJs Larry G, Alex, Diana M. and Ray are scheduled to spin along with a "Special Guest DJ TBA." Wonder who'll be hangin'? At Grand Star Jazz Club, 943 N. Broadway, Chinatown. Facebook invite here.
Mustache Mondays remains one of the city's most spirited gay/mixed soirees, but getting out to it just as the work week begins can be tough. Now we can all get 'stachy and mashy as MM takes over Los Globos for a new thing every 4th Saturday of the month. The first installment of this Mustache Monthly will include a live performance by Hi Fashion & Brother, DJs Josh Peace & Total Freedom, and ho-stess Fade-Dra. A total "must"-do. At Los Globos, 3040 W Sunset Blvd., Silver Lake. www.mustachemondays.tumblr.com
If last week's debut of club Runway was the glitz blitz we expected, this week it goes into full-on fantasy/sexy freak mode with a rare L.A. appearance by NYC nightlife icon Amanda Lepore. The transgendered temptress celebrates the release of her latest, I...Amanda Lepore, with this exclusive West Coast party and performance. Runway diva Rude-ness opens up and DJs Timothy Realness, Mix America and David Banjela spin new and old floor faves from house to hits. At Circus, 6655 Santa Monica Blvd. http://Runwayhollywood.com/
Sun., Nov. 27, Tues., Nov. 29
Dim Mak's offering a double dose of Zedd this week, at its swanky Sunday shindig at Drais and again at its relentless Tuesday night rager inside Dim Mak Studios. Zedd's made a name for himself via remixes mostly, like his take on Skrillex's "Scary Monsters, Nice Sprites" which went to #2 on Beatport's Electro House charts, and more recently Lady Gaga's current single, "Marry The Night." His just-released original stuff for Dim Mak hopefully will take the recognition to a new level. You've got two opportunities to see for yourself. Sunday at Drais, Zedd shares the bill with Avalon resident Bones, plus Fashen and DJ Metric (12th Floor, above The W Hotel, 6250 Hollywood Blvd.) At Dim Mak Tuesday, Zedd's rejoined by Bones and electro-house duo Mightyfools (6356 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood).
