LinA In LA Club/Party Picks: DJ Colette, Red Devil Disco, Magic Wednesdays
Demonic debauchery of the Kitty kind.
As the prolific rapper Nelly once said, "it's getting hot in here (so take off all your clothes)"... By "here" we mean Los Angeles, of course! Summer clubbing calls for way less attire; more, shall we say, refreshments; and a general reduction of inhibitions, good judgement, etc. This week's recommended events will allow for all three, on the dance floor and off. Go ahead and burn it up, but be careful out there, creatures of the night!
Friday, July 8

Magic Wednesday was candy raver dance central in the late '90's, a place that brought the color and craziness of the underground scene to a real club locale (the now-shuttered Ruby) and managed to sustain the -- yes-- magic, on a weekly basis, butterfly wings, glitter, neon whistles and all. It's a different world these days, but promoters Jason Jay and Auro Michael (along with some new party partners including Evil Club Empire's Bruce Perdew) think the time has come for the electronic music gathering to return. Aiming to counter the "mass corporate rave monopoly" as Michael calls it, with this slightly more intimate but big-on-beats bash weekly revamp, the magic is back, 18 and over and promising name DJs from back in the day and today. At Vertigo's, 801 W. Temple St., dwntwn. Facebook invite here.
