In a recent blog post on the band's website, LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy has revealed that he plans to make the recently reunited dance-rockers' upcoming Coachella performances their last.

"After Coachella, LCD Soundsystem will cease to exist," Murphy wrote. "We want to go out on a high note and where better to do it than in front of 90,000 people in the California desert?

"I thought Madison Square Garden was the most fitting place for the band to say goodbye, but I was wrong," the 46-year-old continued. "I've been wrong about a lot of things, but I'm right this time. LCD has gotten as big as it's ever going to get and it's time for all of us — the band, the fans, the haters — to move on.

"In honor of the occasion I'd like all our friends and family to come to the show dressed in white. And try to avoid grass stains. Let's dance ourselves clean! I'm kidding, wear whatever the hell you want. It's all about the music, right? And balloons. Probably there will be some balloons."

The news will no doubt come as a surprise to many fans, especially since LCD Soundsystem just announced they were reuniting after breaking up in 2011. But in recent interviews, Murphy had already begun expressing ambivalence about the reunion.

"We're in rehearsals all the time, or in the studio working on this new album, and it's really hard," Murphy told Pitchfork earlier this week. "I miss running my wine bar. We also had plans to open a vegan whiskey distillery and a cold-brew coffee bar, and of course that's all on hold now. I still haven't finished my soundtrack for the new panda enclosure at the Bronx Zoo. I don't know, I just forgot how time-consuming this whole LCD thing is."

No word yet on what will happen with the band's other 2016 tour dates, which were to include stops at Bonnaroo, Red Rocks Amphitheatre and several European festivals. But a recent tweet from LCD Soundsystem's Twitter account read, "Reunions are fun, aren't they? We should do this again soon."
