Jumbo Saturday Night at Avalon: Global Underground/Get Lost/Crosstown Rebels Blowout Featuring Damian Lazarus, Matthew Dear, M.A.N.D.Y., Luke Solomon, Nic Fanciulli

Tomorrow night's five-DJ Global Underground/Get Lost/Crosstown Rebels blowout at Avalon has the makings of something amazing, if you're into wild synthetic rhythms, boundary-stretching techno/electro/house experimentalism, and the notion of a six-turntable throwdown among three forward-thinking electronic dance producers and DJs. We'll just list them here:

1. Damian Lazarus

Founder, Crosstown Rebels. British, but recent LA transplant. He'll be performing live, doing tracks from his debut album as an artist, Smoke the Monster Out.

2. M.A.N.D.Y.

Berlin-based team of Patrick Bodmer & Philipp Jung, who co-founded Get Physical and released the gorgeously frantic Fabric 38, one of the best mixes of last year.

3. Matthew Dear

Freakishly prolific and imaginative techno producer Dear, of Detroit, draws his foundations from the work of his fellow Motor City forefathers, but builds from those sturdy girders musical buildings both grandiose and ornate. You can hear the hum of electro and second-wave Hood/Mills techno, but Dear's version has way more curlicues and wild-ass spires.

(The aforementioned three will be doing a six-turntable tag team to end the night, the notion of which makes the imagination run wild.)

4. Luke Solomon

Brit-born DJ draws from the rich area where tech and house converge, where Detroit bangs with Chicago collides with London. Solomon, in fact, deserves a Medal of Honor for his work with Chicago house master Derrick Carter in creating Classic Records, a remarkably consistent label.

5. Nic Fanciulli

The London DJ's tracks bump with energy and handclaps, with bouncy basslines and totally trippy, otherworldly soundz woven throughout. His "Green Tea" is a classic.

The vibe at Avalon, according to the press release: "For one night only, Avalon will be transformed into a twisted vision of a discothèque in true Get Lost form. Animal heads, trees, vines, lasers, a custom made visual projection and suspended art work will ensure party goers have no choice but to follow Lazarus & Friends on this warped journey down the rabbit hole."
