Guns N' Roses teased their fans today with a cryptic announcement via their website that appears to announce a 21-city North American tour — with all of the cities listed, but no confirmed dates.
The announcement took the form of a 15-second video that plays a snippet of the band's song "Patience," then lists the cities alphabetically: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Kansas City, Nashville, New Orleans, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, Toronto and Washington, D.C.
Conspicuously absent from the list is Los Angeles.
Prior to today's announcement, the reunited GNR's only confirmed dates were in Las Vegas, Mexico and at the Coachella Festival.
The original announcement appears to have been taken down from the band's website, but the video remains available on Vimeo. A press release sent out this morning also confirmed the announcement, listing all of the cities with the hashtag "#GnFnR."
As previously reported, the only members of Guns N' Roses' 1980s incarnations confirmed to participate in the reunion so far are Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan. Izzy Stradlin reportedly has been asked to be part of the reunion but is holding out for a larger role and more money. Steven Adler was not originally thought to be part of the reunion, but when his April 1 show at the Whisky A Go Go was canceled with the promise of a "big announcement," fans and media began speculating that the band might play a secret warmup gig that night with Adler on drums.
Elsewhere in the GNR rumor mill, Axl Rose allegedly is being considered to replace singer Brian Johnson for AC/DC's 10 postponed U.S. tour dates. But don't hold your breath on that one.
Now, here's every song by Guns N' Roses, ranked. By the time you're done reading it, there's bound to be another rumor circulating about what is already the biggest rock reunion of the 21st century.
