Diamond Dogs at H'wood; Malediction Society's Blasphemy Ball
Tired of the homeless-or-hipster happenings that dominate nightlife lately? For those craving decvadence and dress-up dance clubbin’, this week promises wild times galore. If you’re reading this on Thurs., April 9, you’re just in time for the debut of Diamond Dogs, the new rock & roll discotheque from Bryan Rabin (Club Cherry), Kelly Cole and Ian Cripps, plus a host of more than 50 fabulous friends. Sure to be nouveau-glam mayhem. H’Wood, 1738 N. Orange St.; every Thursday. (323) 462-3663.
The next night, another nightlife fixture, former doorboy/DJ Casper, hosts Hollywood Roxxx (formerly at the Roxy) featuring porn-ish punkettes Switchblade Kitty singing covers in nothing more than strategically applied electrical tape. This one’s a hot mess, and with opening-night guest DJ Adam 12 spinning ’80s tunes, that should go for the dance floor as well. Dragonfly, 6510 Santa Monica Blvd.; Sat., April 11; every Sat. (323) 466-6111.
Finally, fanciful freaks will float over to Malediction Society’s Blasphemy Ball on Easter Sunday, where DJ Xian spins darkwave, industrial and gothic grooves. Suggested attire: priests, martyrs, nuns, schoolgirls, devils and the Easter bunny. Jesus ain’t on the list, but we’re guessing he’d be a hit, too. Monte Cristo, 3100 Wilshire Blvd.; Sun., April 12, 10 p.m. www.myspace.com/maledictionsociety.
