It's a mystery exactly why it's taken so long for Devendra Banhart's most recent solo album, Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon, to be pressed on vinyl. The album, which was released digitally and on CD in the fall of 2007, didn't exactly burn up the sales charts, but we would have at least expected the domestic vinyl to hit the shelves in conjunction with the formal release. But no, it arrives in stores along with the vinyl version of Banhart's side-project, Megapuss, next Tuesday, Jan. 20.

One concern: Smokey Rolls is a very long album. (Too long, in fact.) The analog version arrives as a single LP, which is troublesome to those of us who like our records to be loud and crisp.
