Yeah, yeah we know: The Arcade Fire is playing a secret club show in LA.
[UPDATE: We got the right locations.]
You were probably monitoring Arcade Fire's Twitter feed all week awaiting details about the Montreal group's surprise show tonight. Last night, that feed issued ZIP codes and graphic clues to where tickets for the concert will go on sale. So, as of the week hours of this morning, there were fans camping out at:
Origami Vinyl in Echo Park, the El Rey Theatre and Fingerprints record store in Long Beach.
[UPDATE: Opportunistic Craigslist douchebag in Arcade Fire line will charge you 50 bucks to let you cut in line in Long Beach:]
This song is dedicated to you.
After all, what could be a better soundtrack to all that thumbsucking than Arcade Fire's big anthem "We Used to Wait," off last year's album "The Suburbs"?
We can't give you their version -- Merge might look askance at that -- but we'll do you one better and introduce you to an interesting person in the process.
Ace Reporter is the nom de tune of Harvard man (and San Fernando Valley native) Chris Snyder, late of the indie-rock band the States. Last year he undertook the daunting task of recording and posting one song every day -- yeah, 365 days in a row. Three sixty-six if you count his New Year's Day post. They're all on his website.
A lot of the songs are really good too -- Snyder is in the process of releasing four EPs as a "best-of" his 365 Project. They're free and on Bandcamp.
Now, though, without further ado, we give you "We Used to Wait":Day 339: We Used to Wait (Arcade Fire) by myacereporter
