The Cat Club | Beverly Hills | Music Venues | Music
Stray Cats drummer Slim Jim Phantom runs this West Hollywood saloon, so it should be no surprise that many of his celebrity pals often show up to jam. Hard rock, acoustic and indie-rock bands are usually featured, but the bookings also reflect Mr. Phantom's passion for roots, country and rockabilly combos. House band the Lonely Drunks Club cranks it up every Saturday with stellar special guests, and drinks are half-priced daily at happy hour, from 7-8 p.m. Unlike other clubs on the Sunset Strip, the Cat Club is intimate and more like a neighborhood bar than a slick music emporium. The club includes a full bar, an upstairs VIP room, a pro soundboard and even an outdoor smoking patio surrounded by palm trees. Bands tend to use the venue's in-house Blackstar amps and back line, so setup times between groups are usually short and well organized. Ages 21 & over.
