This cozy little Culver City cafe is a quintessential Westside joint, even down to the colorfully painted surfboards that line the walls. With free Wi-Fi and a relaxed atmosphere, Tanner's is more of a pleasant hangout than an obsessed foodie's destination. However, the selection of coffees and teas are extensive, and the staff is renowned for their friendly, down-home vibe. The walls are brightly colored, and the large windows let in plenty of sunlight, giving the place a bucolic, almost tropical feel. There are also seats on the sidewalk and outdoor patio for those who want to soak up the California sun and work on their screenplays and Great American Novels. Unlike many coffee bars, Tanner's has an unhurried pace, and visitors are invited to stay as long as they wish. No alcohol. All ages. Street parking, plus there's a free two-hour lot in the back.
