This homey, down-home new-&-used bookstore and gift shop is wrapped like a heart around a cute little cafe, which dishes out coffee, hummus, pita bread and other snacks. Nestled in a row of simpatico establishments in Echo Park, the shop is not only "a place to hear up-and-coming authors read from their latest opuses," it's also "a place where you can use the word 'opus' ironically, or not!" Book signings, readings and kids' events often feature live folk, indie and country music from stellar locals, who perform on the back patio by a colorful mural. All ages.
