Robin Hood British Pub | San Fernando Valley | British, Bars and Clubs | Restaurant
Run by British expatriates, this comfortable bar and restaurant is a spot-on authentic English pub located smack in the middle of Van Nuys. Its wooden paneled walls are covered with photos, keepsakes, ads for Boddingtons Ale and other mementos that evoke the United Kingdom, as well as, naturally, a large poster of Ridley Scott's Robin Hood film. Playing darts is one of the major obsessions at Robin Hood, with two dart boards for serious game playing and a wall festooned with plaques and trophies commemorating the bar's past darts champions. Two large flat-screen televisions are usually dialed into sports broadcasts, including rugby and soccer, and this unpretentious bar has a friendly staff and easygoing vibe that reminds Brits of a classic neighborhood pub in London. Robin Hood is divided into two main rooms, with a separate bar and a larger dining room. Apart from the intense darts competitions, the chief appeal at Robin Hood is its menu, featuring American fare like burgers and salads and such British standbys as bangers & mash, Cornish pastie and shepherd's pie. Many regulars, in fact, fervently insist that the pub's lightly battered fish & chips are the best they've ever had. Hot English teas are always available, and the bar serves up draft beers like Newcastle Brown Ale, Guinness, Tetley's, Harp and Bass. Full bar. Ages 21 & over. Street parking and in the free lot behind the pub.
