From seven floors above the Venice Beach boardwalk, it's easy to forget that the rest of Los Angeles exists. That's precisely the point at High Rooftop Lounge, which is nestled on top of the chic boutique Hotel Erwin along a particularly photogenic stretch of ocean real estate. Forget the smoggy views from downtown or the elbow-to-elbow crowds in Hollywood. At High, the main attraction is the 360-degree view; the stellar cocktail menu is simply a bonus. The Blood Orange Julep is particularly satisfying, a delicate mix of small batch bourbon, aromatic mint and fruity bitters that will warm you up faster than the lap blankets provided by the establishment. If you feel like snuggling after the sun's gone down, order a plate of yellowfin tuna tartare from the LED-illuminated menu and grab a seat amongst the clutter of upscale patio furniture if you can.
