The Empanada Factory

2513 S. Robertson Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90034
With its firecracker red exterior paint job, the Empanada Factory on Robertson is hard to miss. When you walk in, the tiny store-front – located in an area best described as Cheviot Hills adjacent -- has a few small tables and a cheerful walk-up counter with a few additional seats outside. The menu features classic Argentine empanadas in two sizes and twelve varieties – we are partial to the classic beef and the sweet corn versions, but they are all good and inexpensive enough to sample three or four at a time. The most popular flavors will be in the glass warming case; other choices will have to be warmed up if you want to eat them right then. The Milanesa style sandwiches reflect the Italian heritage of many Argentine people and a preference for very airy breads. One of the true highlights is the rendition of pastel de papa, a South American ground beef and potato pie. Their empanadas are available at their booth at the Sunday Mar Vista farmers market as well.
