Navajo Rug & Jewelry Show Coming to Santa Monica Mountains September 26-27
The Santa Monica Mountains Interagency Visitor Center will host a Navajo rug and jewelry show, complete with artist talks, on September 26 and 27. Running from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day, the free event comes from Hubbell Trading Post, the oldest continuously operated trading post in the American Southwest.
With special rug talks at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Hubbell's trader Edison Eskeets will describe the history, symbolism, artistry and production of the rugs and how to choose and care for them.
The Navajo Rug & Jewelry Show is supported by Western National Parks Association, a nonprofit partner of the National Park Service. Proceeds from the event help WNPA provide direct support to 66 partner parks across the west.
