Linda Jacobson is a Los Angles native that has been painting and teaching out of Los Angeles since the 1980’s. Linda Jacobson’s paintings are lyrical abstractions inspired by her love of nature and it’s elements: form, movement, light, and what she perceives to be its “essence” – an energy or quality that goes beyond visual appearance. Her work is a serpentine flow, embodying a lyrical and rhythmic movement of sensuous swirling form, undulating edges and forms that flow into each other as waves of color and light.
LINDA JACOBSON: THE SHAMAN’S TREE AND THE LANDSCAPE OF ENERGY By Peter Frank
No image embodies the spirit and credo of shamanic practice like the single tree, standing alone, possibly bearing leaves and/or fruit but invariably revealing its essential structure. Having pursued study of shamanism for decades, going on power journeys and vision quests in widely disparate locales, painter Linda Jacobson focuses naturally, almost instinctively, on the shamanic tree as her iconic element.
