Colonel Sanders may be long gone, but his Kentucky-fried legacy lives on: What began as a humble roadside restaurant has blossomed into the world's largest fried chicken chain, with more than 17,000 KFC locations in 105 countries. The menu still revolves around the Colonel's "finger lickin' good" Original Recipe chicken (made with a top-secret blend of eleven herbs and spices) and sides like mashed potatoes and biscuits, but has expanded in recent years to include everything from wraps and sandwiches to wings and pot pies. In 2010 Los Angeles was invaded by the almost-too-ridiculous-to-be-true Double Down, a sandwich that consisted of bacon, cheese, and "Colonel's Sauce" stuffed between two boneless fried chicken breasts instead of buns. In one of the company's more memorable ad campaigns, KFC emblazoned sweatpants with the Double Down logo on the seat of the pants and paid female students at college campuses to wear them while handing out coupons.
