The "Hey Rookie!" Gaffey St. Pool was first opened in 1943, the pool served as a training and entertainment venue for American soldiers during WWII. In the postwar years, the pool was used as a recreation facility for the public and the soldiers of the Fort. In 1975 the property was transferred to the Recreation and Parks. At that time the pool was known as The Gaffey Street Pool. The pool continued in use as a public facility until the late 1980s when it was closed. On June 27th, 2017 the pool will finally be re-opened, We invite you to join us and celebrate!"
