At that frantic intersection in West L.A. just south of the 10 freeway where La Cienega meets Venice, the surrounding buildings are gray, beige or brick. The Francois Ghebaly Gallery was among the first to change that, posting public murals on the side of its building, beginning with a pixelated black-and-white portrait of Julia Roberts. Now, the small gallery hosts ongoing exhibitions offset by its exterior. And after you’re down perusing, pop over to the nearby Mandrake Bar for a drink.
