Three Aussies opened the European-inspired California restaurant Eveleigh in West Hollywood in 2010 and gave it a rustic charm and relaxed vibe with repurposed wood, potted plants and a fireplace (not to mention killer views in the garden patio). It's a comforting spot for locals who find dining on busy and pretentious Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood off-putting. Lunch is only served on Fridays, so the focus here is on dinner. Start on the low end with small plates like house-made charcuterie, artisanal cheeses and seasoned patatas bravas. Then, work your up to bigger plates offering everything from crisp pork belly to short ribs to goat stew. Naturally, the Eveleigh burger is also customized, the patty made with dry aged cuts and topped with a tomato-chorizo relish. Dessert is a conundrum at any good restaurant, and here, you’ll probably be torn between the baked peach crumble served with brown sugar ice cream or the not-so-average warm doughnut holes served with citrus curd.
