Out of all the many, many hot dog joints that sprinkle the landscape of the San Fernando Valley, it would be worth your while to seek out one of the non-franchised locations of Cupid's Hot Dogs in Northridge, Canoga Park, Van Nuys and Simi Valley. Originally established in 1946, there's not much on the menu here other than hot dogs, chips and soda; then again, that's all you really need. What you and most everyone else in front of you will order at the window is the standard Cupid dog that comes with "Everything." That would be mustard, onions and -- here's the kicker – a generous ladleful of Cupid's fantastic chili. It’s the perfect topping for a particularly snappy dog nestled in a lovely steamed bun; you'll want to eat another, and at only $2.50 per dog, you probably will. Sure, in other parts of your life, Cupid's arrow may have missed its mark. But not so here. You will heart this hot dog. Bullseye.
