This gorgeous Mediterranean bar and restaurant, inside SBE's very red, somewhat ritzy yet boho Redbury Hotel, pays tribute to silver-screen stars from yesteryear via massive black-and-white prints on its ornate, wallpapered interior (the iconic shot of actress Theda Bara as a menacing Cleopatra from the 1917 silent film is the room's centerpiece). Yes, there's lots to look at here, both on the walls and on the plates: small plates with Greek flare, traditional tapas and raw-bar nibbles, all prepared in an open kitchen. It's a warm, sexy and glamorous atmosphere for sure, and the crowd definitely lives up to the surroundings. So does the food (the work of SBE's corporate chef, Danny Elmaleh), much of which is baked inside a wood-burning oven. After dinner or drinks, exploring the lavish yet funky hotel, which had design input from famed photog Matthew Rolston, is a must.
