Here’s something you may or may not enjoy: Unsilent Night. Everybody’s invited to bring a boom box and will receive a CD or digital file to play at an appropriate moment in the procession (or something like that). New York composer Phil Kline came up with the idea of an “electronic caroling party” a few years ago, and it has become a yearly custom. You’re welcome to join the walk even if you don’t have a boom box, and voluntary donations of $1 will be collected for an anti-domestic-violence charity. Pan Pacific Park, 7600 Beverly Blvd., L.A.; Sun., Dec. 21, 7 p.m.; free. E-mail firstname.lastname@example.org and tell them what format you need.
MONDAY, December 22
We live in Celebrityland, so we get productions of A Christmas Carol we deserve — with loads of familiar names. John Goodman, Jane Leeves and Jane Seymour, Christopher Lloyd ( as Ebenezer Scrooge!) and — !!!!! — Gene Wilder appear in 16 performances of the Charles Dickens classic. Call your relatives in those other states and brag about it. Kodak Theatre, Hollywood Blvd. & Highland Ave., Hollywood; Dec. 22-Jan. 4; $28-$79.50. (213) 480-3232.
TUESDAY, December 23
It’s beginning to look a lot like ... gospel. From South Africa, no less. When it comes to colorful outfits, you can’t beat the Soweto Gospel Choir. No matter how lifted your current state of mind, it’s sure to rise, as these renowned artists perform classic Christmas carols, along with gospel and African traditional songs. Walt Disney Concert Hall, 111 S. Grand Ave., downtown; Tues., Dec. 23, 8 p.m.; $24–$195. (323) 850-2000.
