The adult video industry trade group known as the Free Speech Coalition tonight said that a performer who might have come down with HIV was the subject of a false-positive test.

The organization says that "first generation performers" who ostensibly worked with the star have also tested negative. As such, the FSC stated that a voluntary moratorium on production has been lifted.

The adult video industry's trade group today called for a moratorium on production after a performer might have tested positive for HIV.

The Los Angeles–based Free Speech Coalition said in a statement that one of the facilities used by porn stars under the industry's voluntary, twice-a-month STD testing protocol "reported a possible positive HIV test for an adult performer."

In the past, the FSC's moratoriums have been honored by most of the well-known adult studios:

Updated at the bottom with the AIDS Healthcare Foundation saying it will push to have a condom bill reintroduced next year.

A proposal, dreaded by the porn industry, that would have mandated condom use for adult performers on-set throughout the state of California, was essentially defeated in the legislature today.

The bill by L.A. state Assemblyman Isadore Hall would have expanded L.A. County's own mandatory condom rules to reach across the Golden State.

The industry was dead against it and threatened to leave California if it was passed by the legislature and signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown:

Last week the AIDS Healthcare Foundation told the world that it has filed a complaint with Nevada's Division of Occupational Safety and Health over a Kink.com adult video shoot in Las Vegas where condoms were not used.

The group argues that federal law, which seeks to protect workers from on-the-job exposure to blood-borne pathogens of the type sometimes found in sperm, mandates on-set condom use in porn. However, AHF has previously ceded that it's push to make prophylactics the law for adult video shouldn't apply to oral sex.

Porn Industry Gives up on Legitimate Filming in L.A.

This is the world capital of adult video production. And the porn industry hasn't given up on L.A. just yet.

But it has certainly abandoned attempting to film scenes legitimately in the county. Under a law approved by voters and enacted at the end of 2012, film permits for adult video productions require filmmakers to commit to having male performers use condoms.

It's widely believed that, as a result of the mandatory condom rule in L.A., porn producers have simply stopped pulling permits and moved their shoots to places that don't have prophylactic police. New data from the regional permit organization known as FilmLA seems to back that theory:

Updated at the bottom with a response from Kink CEO Peter Acworth.

Kink.com is known for it's raunchy, hardcore porn.

Last year the Bay Area studio caught the eye of the L.A.-based AIDS Healthcare Foundation, which complained that one of its shoots could have exposed performers to HIV. The result was a record, $78,710 fine by the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA), says the foundation.

Owner Peter Acworth has been rebellious nonetheless, flouting his company's filth as a marketing plus and speaking out against efforts to mandate condom use for adult video in California. He even recently opened facilities in Las Vegas as a hedge against the pending prophylactic legislation here:

Legislation that would make condom use mandatory across the state of California for working adult performers has been dealt a setback this week.

AB 1576 by L.A.-based Assemblyman Isadore Hall was tabled by the Senate Appropriations Committee yesterday. The move to suspend the bill could put it on the back burner until the committee decides to move, or not, before an Aug. 15 deadline.

The porn industry trade group, the Free Speech Coalition, appeared to celebrate the move as a small victory in its years-long battle against mandatory condoms in adult video:

California porn studio Kink.com, which last year came under scrutiny for a condom-free production in which a woman who afterward turned up HIV-positive had performed, said this week that it's opening facilities in Las Vegas.

The company, which was investigated by the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) following the August HIV scare, says it's preparing for the possibility of mandatory condom use for adult video in the Golden State.

In an infamous ruling last month a divided U.S. Supreme Court said that family-owned corporations with religious objections did not have to pay for contraceptive coverage under so-called Obamacare.

The decision had some feminists fuming because it will allow employers to duck paying for what they believe is a key part of their health-care needs.

The defendant, the craft-store chain Hobby Lobby, has since become a target of feminist ire:

What was once a proposal that got cut down in Sacramento is now breezing through the legislature with momentum.

A bill that would require porn stars to use condoms in California was approved by the Senate Labor & Industrial Relations Committee yesterday. This despite a last-ditch effort by a group of performers to get the L.A.-based assemblyman behind the legislation, Isadore Hall, to back off.

No dice. The AIDS Healthcare Foundation, which has backed the proposal, was elated by the committee's 3-1 vote:
