Southern California is often seen by the rest of the nation as a cultural outlier, a relatively new region with traditions that are sometimes at odds with the heartland of America.

But when it comes to the ultimate celebration of U.S. nationhood, there are few other places that party as properly as Southern California. A 4th of July beach fiesta is as iconic to our recognition of American independence as snow and mistletoe are to the December holidays.

The folks at traffic data company Inrix have crunched the numbers on Black Friday mall traffic, providing the 411 on the busiest shopping hours if you want avoid the usual pandemonium.

Not only that, but the Inrix people have figured out which malls in the United States are the busiest. One in the Los Angeles area made the company's top 10 (see which one, below).

As if they're cheering us on like ravenous fans at a UFC fight, some retailers are kicking off the holiday shopping season not at midnight Friday, as is somewhat traditional, but on Thanksgiving Day itself.
