This is one of the longest-running DUI crackdowns we can remember. It started last weekend, continues this weekend, and doesn't even hit its namesake holiday until next month.

We're talking about the two-week Labor Day weekend drunk-driver enforcement program throughout L.A. County.

Police are giving you heads up about their whereabouts with the hope that you'll think twice about getting behind the wheel after downing a few. Here's the 411:

The party people of the Los Angeles Police Department don't like to let a good opportunity pass them by.

Even though Labor Day weekend doesn't start until Aug. 29, they're starting their traditional, end-of-summer DUI crackdown this weekend. Kind of like that one guy we all know who likes to celebrate his birthday for half a month.

But here's what it's really about: This will give the cops plenty of time to bust you. The good thing here is that police are warning you where they'll be. The idea is that if you know for sure that they're hunting drunks behind the wheel, maybe you'll think twice about driving under the influence. Here's the 411:

The dog days of summer are here, so  you might be considering cooling down with a cold one.

Just know that the Los Angeles Police Department and other local agencies don't take vacations from busting drunk drivers.

Yep, your midsummer night's dream could be a nightmare of real-deal jail time. Lucky for you the cops want you to know where they'll be this weekend as they hunt for DUI suspects. Here's your cheat sheet:

It will be one of the warmest weekends so far this year.

And the heat will be on the streets, too. Yes, it's time once again for our DUI checkpoint and patrol cheat sheet, in which the Los Angeles Police Department and other agencies warn you about where they'll be with the hope that you'll refrain from drinking and driving.

Many of you ask why we'd warn the boozers: LAPD believes that publicizing checkpoints reduces the number of inebriated people behind the wheel. So here's the 411:

The 4th of July is, as you well know, one of the drunkest holidays across the land. America!

But it's hard to celebrate United States' independence when you're locked up with a bunch of losers. And since this is the land of democracy, the LAPD is giving you a fighting chance to remain a person of free will.

They're actually telling you where they'll be, searching for drunk drivers, this holiday weekend. As you also know, the festivities will start today. And so will the DUI crackdown:

If it seems that, as you enjoy the smell of grilled hot dogs and the vision of tanned bodies on the Fourth of July, everyone is drunk, they pretty much are.

New data released by smartphone-connected breathalyzer firm BACtrack shows that the average blood alcohol content level for the summer holiday is .079, just a hair under the .08 legal limit for DUI. The data is based on an analysis of 100,000 tests over the span of a year.

That's a lot of patriotic boozing:

The Los Angeles Police Department knows where the party people will be on this rare, full-moon-lit Friday the 13th. In fact, on almost any weekend the LAPD has its DUI cops out in force in our very own party town, Hollywood, and in adjacent neighborhoods.

This weekend, cops are doubling down on Sunset Boulevard. There will be two - count 'em - two DUI checkpoints on Sunset. One is planned for Hollywood while other is in Silver Lake.

We've got the times and locations, plus information on checkpoints in West Hollywood, Malibu and more:

A proposed law making its way through Sacramento would allow some college students who are 18 or older to have alcohol.

But this isn't an attempt to lower California's 21-and-older drinking age.

AB 1989 by state Assemblyman Wesley Chesbro would allow students studying winemaking and brewing to have a taste. As it stands, college programs in those fields, which are a big deal in this wine- and beer-producing state, ...

There's something about nice weather that brings the idiots out of their caves.

Police know that. So during this season of "dads and grads," the Los Angeles Police Department, the L.A. County Sheriff's Department, and Santa Monica police will be on the hunt for drunk drivers.

They're giving us clues about where they'll be (on the next page) with the hope that you'll be smart and take a cab or use a ride-share app. Here's what we know:

A new app is promising to get alcohol to your home in less than hour (if you're 21 and can pay for it).

But is it legal? Alcohol regulations in California are super strict. The app, Drizly, is from Boston. State Alcoholic Beverage Control rules say that liquor stores have to take delivery orders over the phone and "must make any alcohol deliveries from the licensed premises."

How can an app do that? Apparently, this one can:
