22-year-old Bree'Anna Guzman and 17-year-old Michelle Lozano
remain unsolved homicides, the LAPD told us. They're two of four apparent victims found in or around the Eastside and Northeast L.A. areas that year alone. And many of you will remember last year's discovery of the remains of female body parts in county Sanitation District facilities
So far there's nothing connecting them. And LAPD officials tell us the discovery of a woman's body floating in Hollenbeck Park lake last week has so far turned up no signs of foul play. She was said to be a homeless drug user, and her autopsy turned up no obvious indications of trauma or injuries, a detective said.

The latest is a macabre find that doesn't seem to have much in common with the others but which is still, well, a bit New Jersey-like if you ask us:
A man's body was found stuffed inside a suitcase in the Verdugo Wash near Glorietta Park in Glendale, police said.
Public works employees found a "suspicions suitcase" in the wash, which feeds the Los Angeles River, about 9 a.m. yesterday, Glendale police Lt. Bruce Fox told the Weekly
Police were called, and officers summoned the L.A. County Department of Coroner, whose investigators arrived, opened the case, and officially discovered the remains about 1 p.m., he said.
"They opened it and found a deceased male adult inside," Fox said. "It was obviously a body dump, suspicious in nature."
It's up to the coroner's office to decide the exact cause of death, Fox said.
