David Pregerson, 23, died on New Year's Eve following the Dec. 27 collision in Pacific Palisades, police said.
The LAPD alleges that a southbound driver hit the young man and ...
... continued south on Chautauqua Boulevard without stopping to render aid or call for help.
The accident happened about 3 a.m. on Chautauqua north of Borgos Place, according to LAPD.
Police say that Pregerson "was in the roadway" when he was hit by a vehicle. We called investigators to get more detail but couldn't get through to anyone.
Pregerson was taken to a hospital by L.A. Fire Department paramedics, police said. He died about 10 a.m. on New Year's Eve, they said.
Pregerson is listed as a second-unit director of photography for the TV show The Bay.
He was the son of U.S. District Court Judge Dean Pregerson. His grandfather was 9th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Harry Pregerson.
Friend Greg Baroth, who went to UCLA with the younger Pregerson, told L.A. Weekly:
He was a delightful person to be around. He was always smiling.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or who might know the whereabouts of the driver was asked to call detectives at (213) 473-0234.
