Man Found Fatally Shot in Marina del Rey

A man was found dead at a Marina del Rey apartment complex early today, sheriff's officials said.

The victim was reported to be a type of security worker at the Shores, a 544-unit development that opened this year.

According to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department ...

... the shooting victim was discovered down in the 4200 block of Via Marina Court about 3:26 a.m. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the sheriff's statement. The sheriff's department patrols Marina del Rey, and sheriff's homicide detectives were sent to the scene about 4 a.m., deputies stated.
View Larger Map The Shores complex at 4201 Via Marina opened this year, someone at the development told us. A sheriff's official said she heard the victim was a security worker. His ID was not yet released. [Update at 11:18 p.m. Monday]: The sheriff's department tonight identified the security worker as 47-year-old Patrick Odoikyene of South Los Angeles. ... lying in the front parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. It was determined that the victim was an unarmed security guard who worked at the apartment complex. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies stated a man was seen running:
Witnesses heard multiple gunshots. An adult male ... , wearing dark clothing and a dark hooded sweatshirt, was seen running from the scene.
Reports indicate the victim is from Africa. Dozens of concerned residents attended a town hall meeting with sheriff's officials at the complex tonight. Anyone with info on the homicide was asked to call detectives at 323-890-5500. [Update at 10:18 p.m. Tuesday]: The sheriff's department tonight circulated an artist's sketch of a suspect seen running from the scene.
