You were sad that the Dodgers didn't make it to the World Series. But rejoice: Los Angeles is the national champion in one sport:

Getting to work.

Yep, the annual Tom Tom Traffic Index of the Americas is out and L.A. tops the list of United States cities with the worst congestion.

We actually came in fourth place when the entirety of North and South America was considered. L.A. was beat out by Rio de Janeiro (1), Sao Paulo (2) and ... Vancouver (3)?!

But on the U.S. side of the border, we beat out No. 5 San Francisco and more.

Apparently Tom Tom uses its users' GPS data to compare "travel times during noncongested hours (free flow) with travel times in peak hours," according to our reading of a company statement.

In L.A. our congestion level was said to be at 35 percent, with an average delay for most of us of 40 minutes during commute times in the morning and evening.

Our worst morning traffic is on Tuesday, Tom Tom says, and our worst evening rush hour is on Thursday, with a whopping 80-plus percent congestion rate.

Interestingly, we didn't make Tom Tom's global top 10. Losers.
