The man who cops say placed dry ice bombs around LAX over the weekend just for "prank curiosity," in the words of one LAPD official, was charged today with some serious business.

The L.A. County District Attorney this afternoon filed two counts of "possession of a destructive device in a public place" following scares at LAX on Sunday and Monday night, a D.A.'s spokeswoman confirmed:

Dicarlo Bennett, a 28-year-old from Paramount, was expected to be arraigned any minute.

On Sunday night, cops say, one of three dry ice devices he allegedly placed around the airport exploded. Then, on Monday night, another dry ice device was expanding and apparently about to explode when an LAX worker notified authorities.

All of the devices, along with a fourth item, apparently all bottles, were found in restricted, employee-only areas. Bennett was an LAX-based worker.

The LAPD said yesterday that they didn't believe he intended to terrorize the airport. But officials also emphasized that these bottle bombs can be deadly.

If convicted, Bennett could face six years in jail, prosecutors say.
