Southern California is such a wondrously diverse place that we have rave riots, surfer riots and yes, iPhone riots.

Well, perhaps "riot" is a stretch. You can call it a disturbance, a ruckus or even beef. In fact, cops say two separate incidences of violence broke out at the Pasadena Apple store as customers waited in line to get their hands on the just-released iPhone 5S:

First, at 7:24 a.m. at the store at 54 W Colorado Blvd. a fight broke out, Pasadena police Lt. Jason Clawson told us. It wasn't clear what inspired the fisticuffs, but when it was done two men were arrested on suspicion of fighting in public, cited, and released, he said. No injuries were reported.

It appeared that the recruiter was walking away with phones as some of the recruits were still in line and hoping to get paid, he said:
He received several phones and at some point left the store without the people he brought here buy they phones. They were upset because they weren't getting paid. They kind of surrounded the guy and tried to grab property. There was pushing and shoving. Police were already there.
Nobody was arrested. But by that point there were plenty of cops and even private security guards hired by Apple at the scene, Clawson said. About 200 people were at the store this morning, he said.
