Not too many hipsters in these parts, we reckon, but read on anyway:
-Tonight from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. an LAPD DUI checkpoint will be set up just for you at Lankershim Bouelvard and Vanowen Street in lovely North Hollywood.
-Tonight from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. there will be a checkpoint on Roscoe Boulevard at Coldwater Canyon Avenue in gorgeous Sun Valley.
-Tonight from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. the po-pos will be looking for drunk papis via a DUI checkpoint on Soto Street at First Street in Boyle Heights.
-Saturday the police are going mobile with a "saturation patrol" -- meaning extra cops in cars looking specifically for DUI violations -- in LAPD's Southwest Division area, which is between USC and the Baldwin Hills. They'll be on it from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.
-Sunday the LAPD will do the same as above, but this time in the Van Nuys Division area, from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Oh, and for you folks who have just discovered this cheat sheet (we've been doing it almost weekly for years now), here's the deal:
We know you have concerns about DUI motorists being tipped off to these traps.
But LAPD wants the info out there. The department argues that if they know the cops will be looking for them at specific places, drunks might not get behind the wheel.
The department states:
The deterrent effect of sobriety checkpoints is a proven resource in reducing the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol or drug involved crashes.
OK? Be safe.
