A Westside teenager scared the hell out of her parents and the whole city when she went missing this week.
Turns out Caroline Karimi, a volunteer at the San Gabriel Valley Medical Center, was on a much more important mission: Road trip!
Yep. The teen's mom told reporters Karimi called yesterday from Cheyenne, Wyo. She had traveled there with friends.
Whew. The 18-year-old went missing Monday. Cops called her disappearance from the tony Cheviot Hills section of town "highly unusual":
Karimi has not been seen or heard from since, and has never gone missing before. Her family is extremely concerned for her safety.
Karimi has Asperger syndrome, a form of autism, so there was some reason for the fretting.
Cops say the teen had last been seen about 7 a.m. Monday at her home in the 2900 block of Queensbury Street, which is apparently when she left for her volunteer gig.
She drove off in a a 2007 metallic-green Toyota Prius with California plate 5YVV475, police said.
The teenager was scheduled to board a flight for Boston, where a family gathering was to take place, at 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, according to what family members told investigators.
Hope Wyoming was fun.
