The Trayvon Martin case has the nation inflamed. We haven't seen this much brother-on-brother anger since the debate over iPhones and Samsung Galaxys.

New video appears to depict what police contend is a Southern California woman, 43-year-old Dinalynn Andrews-Potter, attacking legendary soul singer Lester Chambers, allegedly because he dedicated a song to Trayvon.

Check it out (the suspect comes into frame for a hard shove at the very end):

Hayward police say it happened in their Bay Area town Saturday hours before the acquittal of George Zimmerman for the murder of Trayvon.

Lt. Mark Stuart says it's not entirely clear that Chambers was attacked over his Trayvon dedication. Here's what he told the Weekly:

I cannot confirm if the assault was committed in connection to Mr. Chambers reference to Trayvon Martin, as the assault occurred at or near the end of Mr. Chambers singing a song which was 4-5 minutes after his comments about Martin. The case will be submitted to the charging DA for review and charges as she/he sees fit the crime committed.

Andrews-Potter is from the Inland Empire city of Barstow. The city of Hayward posted a statement that reads, in part:

I want to express our sympathy to and concern for Lester Chambers on behalf of the City of Hayward. While the perpetrator of the incident was not from Hayward, the act occurred in Hayward and we find it unacceptable and completely contrary to our community values.

Hayward is a civil community that celebrates our diversity and values our freedom to engage in civil discourse and expression of opinion.

It looks like Chambers' son said on Saturday that the alleged assault was over the Trayvon dedication:

Lester was just assaulted on stage at The Russell City Hayward Blues Festival by a crazed woman after dad dedicated 'People Get Ready' to Trayvon Martin. He is on the way to the hospital now.

Chambers was part of the 1960s group The Chambers Brothers. He posted later on Facebook that he was sore:

Next Day recap... I am sore all over. Beaten but not broken. I can't laugh, sing, hardly talk long or take a deep breath without chest pain.. All my joints ache. My hips feel sore as can be...
