Don't let anyone tell y'all you're not winners.

Even after we warned you that SoCal cops would be on the hunt for drunk drivers this 4th of July weekend -- we even told you where they'd be -- you beat last year's number of DUI arrests. At least through Saturday night:

The L.A. County Sheriff's Department is keeping track of 4th of July weekend DUI arrest stats and says that from midnight Thursday through midnight Saturday there have been 490 drunk driving collars in the region.

That beats the 343 arrests for the same period last year, deputies say.

But it's not over yet:

The so-called maximum enforcement period for the holiday didn't wrap until midnight last night, with a whole mess of DUI checkpoints and drunk-driver "saturation patrols" yet to check in with their arrest numbers.

We'll keep you posted.

[Update at 11:16 p.m.]: Near-final numbers from the sheriff's department show that DUI arrests were up about 36 percent for this holiday weekend versus last year's.

There were 685 DUI arrests made through midnight Sunday versus 503 for a similar period last year, deputies said.

CHP says 56 people were killed statewide during its "maximum enforcement period."
