In Compton, a similar scandal could be shaping up. KCET teases this morning that it has discovered a similar payment situation for Compton City Council members:
KCET's SoCal Connected says it has discovered that the small-town body is earning most of its salary by attending committee meetings that take less than five minutes.
Not only that, but the program found out that a $3.5 million loan to a major local campaign donor and civil rights activist has not been repaid. The city also gave him land for nothing, so far, in return, KCET says.
Was it a taxpayer giveaway?
All this as two council members and the city treasurer are up for reelection in two weeks. Tune in tonight at 5:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. for details.
