Police and fire officials doubled down on a search for a teenage girl who appeared to be kidnapped while kicking and screaming in the El Sereno area last night.

Police were called to the 4900 block of Klamath Street near El Sereno Recreation Center about 7:52 p.m. Monday, Officer Luis Garcia told the Weekly:

Callers told cops that a couple was arguing and that the "man struck the woman in the head or face and proceeded to drag her up the hill by her hair," he said.

Witnesses followed the suspect and victim but were unable to keep up, Garcia said.

The girl was described as petite, possibly 13 to 15 years old, he said. The man was about 20.

Leggings and a pair of tennis shoes were found in the area by responding cops, Garcia said.

Today authorities continued the search today, coming through the park, with the help of K-9 dogs that might be able to sniff the girl's trail, police said.

The LAFD's Erik Scott stated that firefighters joined the effort at 7:40 a.m. today:

LAFD is actively engaged in and assisting local Law Enforcement in searching for a missing individual.

[Update at 12:30 p.m.]: Police released composite sketches of the possible suspect and victim (below). The male is said to be about 6 feet tall, 155 pounds. The girl is about 5 feet, 2 inches, 130 pounds with pulled-back hair.
