Updated at the bottom with some strange details about the last time he was seen. First posted at 7:05 a.m. Monday.

Gavin Smith, a longtime Fox movie distribution exec, has been missing for nearly a week.

His son, USC basketball forward Evan Smith, has taken to Twitter to publicize the plight of his 57-year-old father, who played on UCLA's 1975 championship team under John Wooden.

Dad was reported missing Tuesday:

Smith was last seen at a friend's house Ventura County's Oak Park area between 9:00 and 10:00 p.m. on May 1, according to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department. City News Service says he was actually seen driving away from the home in the 500 block of Callwood Court. Smith was driving a black, 2000 four-door Mercedes E Class (a 420 badged as a 500), deputies say. It has tinted windows, soft racks on the roof and California plate number 6EKT044. It's also missing. Someone at 20th Century Fox distribution called authorities, according to a sheriff's statement. The ex-baller is 6 feet, 6 inches tall, 210 pounds, with green eyes and gray hair and blond highlights. Sheriff's officials say he has a four-inch scar on the inside of his right wrist and a five-incher on one of his calves. Even Smith tweeted: The elder Smith, who has family and business connections in Calabasas and West Hills, worked at Fox for 18 years, according to reports: In fact, before he had gone missing, he had just returned from a movie business convention in Las Vegas. If you've seen Gavin Smith, call detectives at 323-890-5500. [Update at 1:03 p.m.]: ABC News is reporting that Smith intended to spend the night at the friend's house and left under strange circumstances, wearing sweat pants that he intended to sleep in and leaving a cellphone charger and shave kit behind. He was wearing purple workout pants belonging to a teen son. Evan Smith said:
That's what he was wearing, you know? It doesn't sound like he was going anywhere, you know?
