Porn, of course, is the Rodney Dangerfield of visual arts. No respect.

From mandatory condoms in L.A. to Rick Santorum's war on adult video, it has been a tough year for L.A.'s other film industry. Now this:

A documentary filmmaker says his project on the industry has been rejected by do-gooder-project fund-raising site KickStarter:

The film, titled Staying Power: The Business and Value of the Adult Entertainment Industry, was rejected for fund-raising on the crowd-sourcing site, according to Xbiz.

While filmmaker Brandon Longwood said his project was about the industry and not an adult video in and of itself, KickStarter said no anyway.

(To be fair, his fund-raising trailer is pretty NSFW racy: link).

What's perhaps the most frustrating about this episode is that a crunchy-liberal-Kumbaya-eat-the-rich site like KickStarter is acting like a prude and info Nazi.

The organization isn't even saying specifically why a man can't raise money there for a documentary on one of the biggest media industries in the world.

In a letter to Longwood, the site says only that ...

... this isn't the right fit for KickStarter. We receive many projects daily and review them all with great care and appreciation. We have determined that your project does not meet the KickStarter Guidelines.

But ... this being America, there are other fund-raising sites out there. And Longwood found one: IndieGoGo.com.

The filmmaker wants to get $92,000 to make this thing. So far? $10.

Revenge!
