A teenager was brutally punched and beaten by a man who robbed her of her cellphone just around the corner from an LAPD station in Koreatown this week, police say.

The attack was caught on tape via security video (after the jump). What's amazing is that the 18-year-old victim, even after being punched and robbed, tried to get her phone back and was beaten again.

It all happened ...

... Sunday about 10:10 p.m. in the lobby of her apartment building at West 11th Street and South Westmoreland Avenue, which is just a hop, skip and jump from the LAPD's Olympic Division station.

According to the department:

The suspect approached the victim from behind, put his arm around her neck and tried to grab her cell phone. When the victim resisted, the suspect slammed her to the ground and punched her several times in the face and the stomach. The suspect attempted to take her purse, but instead took her cell phone. As the suspect began walking toward the front door, the victim ran after him and tried to take her phone back. The suspect turned around, punched the victim several more times in her face then walked out the lobby door.

Cops called the guy a "aggressive and dangerous suspect."

He's described as being around 30-years-old, measuring about 5 feet, 5 inches tall, and weighing around 190 pounds. He was wearing jeans, a white t-shirt with black letters on the front and back, and black shoes.

Anyone who might know who this is was asked to call Olympic detectives at 213-382-9467.

Slime debuted on Nick in 1981, says Network executive Jay Schmalholz, on the comedy sketch show You Can’t Do That On Television. It fell from the sky, thoroughly soaking its prey, every time a character (including a young Alanis Morissette) said, “I don’t know!” The gag caught on with viewers and quickly spread to other shows.
