Ah, the dreaded "dewey."

It targets people of all backgrounds, and while critics have accused the LAPD of setting them up in immigrant-heavy neighborhoods where finding unlicensed drivers (and taking their cars) is like shooting pescado in a barrel, we've got one for you tonight in a fairly upscale area (so look out, Charlie Sheen).

Yep, our weekly DUI checkpoint alert for Friday night brings us to ...

... Beautiful Studio City.

Look out for the boys and girls in blue on Ventura Boulevard between Coldwater Canyon and Fairway avenues between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. Friday night (that's tonight, but we say the day of the week for some reason).

Why do we bring this info?

The LAPD actually distributes the information with the aim to educate the public and raise the profile of enforcement with the hopes that the attention might dissuade you from even getting behind the while after one too many.

Only you can prevent deweys.
