Tree sitters John Quigley, Andrea Bowers and Julia Posin will be at the LA Board of Supervisors meeting tomorrow, Tuesday January 18 at 8:45 am. They'll be talking about what it was like to witness the demolition of 250 centuries-old oaks and sycamores from close up, then get removed by crane, then carted off to jail. (Horrible? Scary? Noisy? You bet.)

The three were removed from the oak trees last week when the county chopped down the Arcadia Woodlands grove to make way for a sediment dump from nearby Santa Anita Dam.

Want to hear about the carnage? Meet them on the steps in front of the Board's meeting hall, Room 381 B, Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, 500 West Temple Street. Speakers begin at 9 am sharp.

According to Arcadia resident/activist Camron Stone, the purpose of the meeting is:

To call for an independent investigation of the LA County DPW and its deception of local citizens, communities and elected officials throughout the entire three-year planning process for the Santa Anita Dam Sediment Removal Project. That process finally led to a trampling of rights of local residents and environmental groups who desperately wanted to talk about alternatives to the Woodland destruction with minimal impact to the major stated goals of the project.
