Popeye the Sailor: gentle-souled shill for home economics?

Even though he starred in pretty much the best cartoons and comic strips ever, itinerant wastrel Popeye the Sailor is hardly a guarantee of quality. He's turned up in a wretched Altman film, watered-down Saturday morning cartoons, and knock-off Sugar Smacks.

Perhaps the great sailor's greatest low came in this 1973 home economics comic book, the subject of this week's Studies in Crap over on our Style Council blog.
