Another bystander, a 15-year-old boy, was hit in the arm by some strays, but the woman -- who family members say was shielding her grandson's body when she was shot -- took the only fatal bullet.
Both were taken to the hospital...
... where the boy's arm was successfully treated. Taylor was not so lucky: She died during surgery. A candlelight vigil was held Sunday in honor of her life. A CBS Los Angeles video of the memorial calls the crime "random gang violence."
Taylor was picnicking with her grandchildren at the park on West Beach Avenue before the 4:45 p.m. shooting. We will have more details about what exactly happened at the crime scene after a press conference this afternoon, so check back for updates.
In the meantime, anyone with additional information about the suspect or the shooting is urged to call Inglewood Police Department investigators at (310) 412-5246.
