While all eyes remain on California's gubernatorial race, particularly on the entertaining sniping between Republicans Meg Whitman and Steve Poizner, the June primary contest for state Attorney General is dishing up its own drama, with the anointed Republican frontrunner, Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley, finding himself running second among fellow GOP candidates in a poll unleashed this week.

According to the SurveyUSA poll, Cooley would get 22 percent of the vote compared to 29 percent for state Sen. Tom Harman of Huntington Beach. Attorney John Eastman came in third with 14 percent. On the Democratic side:

Former Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo also found himself in second place among his party faithful. With a projected 16 percent support, he trailed San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris, who was looking at 22 percent support among Democrats who planned to vote.

In third place? Former Facebook executive Chris Kelly, who has largely been underwriting his own campaign. He would take 11 percent of the vote. Sounds like he doesn't have a lot of friends.
