The boy was driving a vehicle and had pulled over to use his mobile phone when a suspect who identified himself as an off-duty officer walked up and told the teen to pull into the lot of a nearby restaurant at 9575 Valley View St., Cypress Sgt. Tom Bruce said.
The suspect performed a pat-down that included inappropriate touching beneath the teen's clothes, he said. "At some point the suspect catches on [that] the victim is getting very scared and nervous and lets him go," Bruce said.
The suspect was described as a clean-shaven, skinny, 40-year-old white man with graying brown hair and a height of about 5-feet-11. He was driving a red or burgundy Dodge extra-cab pickup truck.
The victim said the suspect hadn't shown any kind of police ID: Bruce cautioned people stopped by anyone claiming to be a plainclothes cop to ask for identification.
